A fine vintage: Redwood unveils boutique community at Wooing Tree

A new chapter is unfolding on the shores of Lake Dunstan, as renowned national developer Redwood Group makes its Cromwell debut with ‘The Grove at Wooing Tree’ – a collection of 47 architecturally designed homes set to transform a key site within the prestigious Wooing Tree Estate and winery.

Bayleys Residential Projects' general manager, Gavin Lloyd, says the move sees Redwood steer the development of a site previously earmarked for visitor accommodation.

“Positioned in the heart of Central Otago wine country, The Grove blends Nordic-inspired architectural design with the rustic charm of its vineyard settings to deliver a refined yet grounded living experience with an investment edge.”

Offered with 365-day visitor accommodation consent, the two-and-three-bedroom homes are priced from $655,000 and feature floorplans ranging from 74sqm to 85sqm (more or less).

Lloyd says the project has been designed with an emphasis on supporting the growing cohort of lifestyle buyers, investors, and visitors seeking high-quality housing out of Queenstown’s main centre.

Each residence includes open-plan living spaces, landscaped private outdoor areas, sleek kitchens with stone benchtops, and allocated off-street car parking.

Bayleys Residential and Lifestyle sales specialist Renee Harrold says buyers have signalled a healthy appetite for thoughtfully designed homes in premium locations, particularly when paired with proven development credentials.

“We’re seeing clear demand from buyers seeking high-quality, low-maintenance homes in locations that offer both lifestyle appeal and long-term investment potential – The Grove delivers on both fronts,” she says.

“Redwood Group’s reputation for quality, delivery, and regional insight is a significant drawcard. Their track record includes Five Mile Shopping Centre in Frankton, The Alex Apartments in Queenstown, the sold-out Coronet Peak Alpine Villas at Arthurs Point, and the under-construction Kawerau Villas.

“The Grove takes this legacy in a new direction.”

Nestled within the prestigious Wooing Tree Estate, a thriving new community among the vines of the lauded Wooing Tree Vineyard, The Grove offers immediate access to Cromwell’s growing amenity base and some of the region’s most sought-after recreation hotspots.

“From world-class wineries and celebrated cycling trails, to golf, lake activities, and the region’s famed ski fields, Cromwell is an established lifestyle destination with a burgeoning community.

“Unlike its more populous neighbours – Queenstown and Wānaka – Cromwell’s growth is just beginning, which offers residents an idyllic blend of space and connectedness, being just 50 minutes to Queenstown, 40 minutes to Wānaka, and a 20-minute drive from Alexandra.

“The region has come into its own in recent years. It’s not a place to pass through; people are raising families, investing locally, and there is a bona fide visitor economy. That shift in perception is fuelling strong local demand for new housing.”

Harrold says that in addition to strong demand fundamentals, the design philosophy at The Grove pays an attractive homage to Central Otago’s distinctive environment.

“Homes showcase natural materials including local stone, timber and metal, applied in contrast to clean architectural lines and minimalist interiors.

“Inside, form meets function with modern comforts and quality appliances, while landscaped outdoor living spaces extend the home into its environment.”

“Quality opportunities in such affordable price brackets don’t linger on the market for long, especially in Central Otago,” Harrold says. “With its unique blend of architectural sophistication, lifestyle access, and a location within one of the region’s most distinctive new communities, The Grove at Wooing Tree is ripe for the picking.”
