The Crusaders

Official Community Partner

Bayleys Canterbury has been involved with the Crusaders since 1996. We appreciate Cantabrians genuine passion for rugby and their strong allegiance to the Crusaders. Not only do the Crusaders excel on the field, they also actively contribute to charitable causes and support various groups in the community.

It is this hands-on involvement in the heart of the community and a shared vision of a better future for everyone that strengthens our partnership as the Official Community Partner of the Crusaders.

We take great pleasure in being the driving force behind the Crusaders Bayleys Horses. The pre-match entertainment they provide before home games in Canterbury brings joy and elicits smiles from the crowd. The Crusaders Bayleys Horses symbolise the collective strength of six provincial unions and serve as a testament to our passion and pride for the Canterbury region – another exemplar of being “Altogether Better”.

“We’re fortunate to work alongside Bayleys Canterbury, who dedicate their partnership with us to delivering a variety of community-based initiatives throughout the region.”

Surfing for Farmers

National Sponsor

Bayleys Canterbury Country actively participates in the broader farming community by encouraging farmers to take a break from their farms and enjoy some time in the waves. Surfing for Farmers is an initiative that helps improve mental health and wellbeing in New Zealand rural communities.

During the summer season, farmers across the region gather at Sumner, Gore Bay and Hickory Bay to enjoy the surf, a chat and a barbecue. Our team in Timaru extends their support to farming communities by venturing into South Otago and attend the event in Kakanui Bay.

“For farmers, stepping back from the job can be especially hard. Surfing is a way to disconnect from this high pressure environment.”

Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose

Everyone has the right to a good start

Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose raises funds for the Christchurch City Mission’s Back to School Programme.

The programme helps struggling families meet school costs for uniforms, shoes, and stationery. We want every child in Canterbury to have the tools they need to go to school with confidence and get the best possible start in life.

Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose has underpinned the Christchurch City Mission’s Back to School Programme since 2019. Our goal is to ensure that every child in Canterbury has the necessary tools to attend school with confidence and receive the best possible start in life.

“Our Back To School Programme helps hundreds of Christchurch children get to school with the right clothes and resources they otherwise wouldn’t have. Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose is the major funder of this work and we couldn’t be happier to have Bayleys Canterbury working alongside us.”

Bayleys Bring What You Can

A small gesture can make a world of difference

We help fill the Christchurch City Mission’s foodbanks twice a year. The first foodbank drive runs in June, ahead of the cold winter months, and involves each Bayleys office operating as a collection point, From mid-November to just before Christmas, we ask for food donations so that families can celebrate over the festive season.

We also involve the Crusaders and Matatū teams with a specific game day activation during their match season, called “Catch A Can”, which also donates cans to the foodbank.

“The Christchurch City Mission is extremely grateful to Bayleys Canterbury for their ongoing support. A foodbank needs a constant supply of food, so this welcome donation of food items will help us continue to provide this essential service during this time of increasing demand.”
